On June 2021, a consortium formed by Desmet Ballestra Italy (DBI), Desmet Ballestra Malaysia (DBMA) and Dialog Engineering & Construction (DEC) has been awarded by PCG PCC Oxyalkylates Sdn Bhd an EPC contract for the license, design, supply, installation and commissioning of the “OXY.my Project”, a plant producing alkoxylated products as polyether-polyols and non-ionic surfactants and with a capacity up to 70,000 ton/year arranged on two production trains, to be installed in Kerteh (Malaysia).
The plant will be based on DBI proprietary enhanced loop reactor technology, which has been developed in DBI pilot plants over the last 12 years.
PCG PCC Oxyalkylates Sdn Bhd is a JV between PCC SE, a European leader in the surfactants and polyether-polyols business and a recurrent DBI client, and PETRONAS Chemical Group Bhd, part of PETRONAS, the Malaysian fully integrated Petrochemical Corporation.
DBI will be responsible for the supply of the process technology know-how and the basic engineering, as well as for the procurement of process equipment and plant instrumentation & control; DBMA will execute supervision services during detailed Engineering, plant construction and Commissioning, while DEC will be responsible for civil and erection works as well as for detailed engineering and procurement of bulk materials and non-critical items.
The plant start-up is foreseen to occur in the third quarter of 2023.
This contract recognizes DBI's leading position in the surfactant industry and the continuing DBI efforts to develop its alkoxylation technology.
