Phosphoric Acid H₂SO₄ Route

Reliable and cost-effective wet process for Phosphate rock conversion

Phosphoric Acid H₂SO₄ Route

The H₂SO₄ route involves attacking phosphate rock with sulfuric acid to produce phosphoric acid and phosphogypsum.

Depending on raw material quality and customer needs, Ballestra delivers optimized process configurations, including Di-Hydrate (DH), Hemi-Hydrate (HH), and advanced crystallization options such as CPP and HDH. The result: high-efficiency plants with market-oriented performance, robust design, and competitive operating costs.

Phosphoric Acid H₂SO₄ Route

  • The traditional wet process uses sulfuric acid to attack phosphate rock, producing phosphoric acid phosphogypsum as a byproduct.
  • According to the process conditions, the wet process can produce Di-Hydrate (DH) gypsum or Hemi-Hydrate (HH) gypsum.
  • Single crystallization processes (DH, HH, DA-HF) and Double Crystallization processes (CPP, HDH) are available; selection will be made according to phosphate rock quality and Customer requirements.
  • Advantages: Cost-effective, flexible and market-oriented process plants
